Unpacking Gun Violence in the United States

This lesson collection offers preK-12 educators and learners a set of resources focused on understanding and addressing gun violence in schools and communities. It covers topics such as laws and the Second Amendment, government debates and challenges, the impact of gun violence on specific groups, and strategies for civil discourse and action.

Key elements include gun violence lesson plans and more that shed light on the effects of gun violence on youth and explore how gun control could potentially reduce such violence. These free resources aim to educate students about the seriousness of gun violence and encourage them to actively contribute to civic solutions.

Additionally, the collection examines the role of government in the fight against gun violence, including the obstacles to implementing stronger gun control measures. It also addresses the targeted nature of gun violence—including hate crimes—and offers tools for engaging in civil discourse and taking action.

By providing straightforward information and practical tools, this collection seeks to empower educators, students, and communities to engage in meaningful discussions and take steps toward making schools and neighborhoods safer for everyone.
