Wessex Archaeology is a charity, which aims to promote the advancement of education in the arts, culture, heritage and science through the pursuit of archaeology. It is one of the largest archaeological practices in the UK, set up in 1983. We provide professional archaeological services to government departments, local authorities, private landownsers, commercial companies and individuals. We aim to keep the public informed about their heritage and to give them opportunities to interact with it wherever and whenever possible. We have run Heritage Lottery funded projects for schools, as well as creating teacher resources for a range of clients, including English Heritage, New Forest National Park Authority and the Marine Aggregate Levy Sustainability Fund.
