About This Lesson
The "Adopt a Cow" program is open to K-12 classrooms for the 2024-2025 school year! This immersive, year-long virtual experience offers students a unique, hands-on look at the life and care of a dairy calf in New England—all at no cost.
What’s Included?
- Meet Your Calf: Your class will be introduced to a New England-born dairy calf, complete with details about her name, birthday, and where she lives.
- Farm Life Insights: Learn about the host farm and the daily care your calf receives through updates, photos, and videos.
- Watch Her Grow: Receive regular progress updates and follow your calf’s growth over the school year.
- Live Chat with a Farmer: Students will have the opportunity to connect directly with the host farmer in a live virtual chat.
- Interactive Q&A: Access a portal where your class can ask farmers questions, plus get involved by writing letters to your host farmer and calf!
- Curriculum Support: Enjoy free, standards-aligned activities designed to enhance your ELA and STEM lessons.
