Discussions That Make a Difference: What is an Argument?

Students will compare and contrast various discussion methods. By watching a video clip of Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer talk about the Court's decision making process, students will work toward creating class-wide norms for discussions. They will also develop their own ideas about the differences between arguments and discussions, and the roles both would play in a classroom.
