About This Webinar

Join National Farm to School Network,  Snack Scene and Share My Lesson for a webinar on Farm to School and Health and Wellness Strategies.

During the session, Tammi K Hanak, Speech-Language Pathologist, Wellness professional, and host of the Snack Scene, will highlight how the community of Bower Hill Elementary has used a signature nutrition and wellness TV program called the "Snack Scene" as a framework to align literacy and mindfulness programming, health instruction, family engagement, physical activity guidelines, curricular initiatives, and more.

Next, Lacy Stephens, MS, RDN, Farm to Early Care and Education Associate, will discuss how farm to school enriches the connection communities have with fresh, healthy food and local food producers by changing food purchasing and education practices at schools and early care and education sites. In addition to procurement and school gardens, education – including food, nutrition, and agriculture education – is a core component of farm to school. Farm to school promotes food and agriculture-based learning with innovative and engaging activities that enhance the quality of educational experiences for students of all ages. From planting seeds in early care settings to culinary classes in senior high, farm to school activities can increase overall academic achievement and contribute to students’ social and emotional development.

Finally, both panelists will discuss ways you can get your students and communities involved in health and wellness strategies today.

Professional Credit

Available for one-hour of PD credit. A certificate of completion will be available for download at the end of your session that you can submit for your school's or district's approval.

Share My Lesson is now a New York State Education Department-approved provider for Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) requirements and an Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) approved Professional Development provider.
