Join Library of Congress and Share My Lesson for a lesson how using a coding activity that reaches across the curriculum, students can analyze primary sources and create new ideas as they synthesize what they learn.

In this session, two teachers in residence at the Library of Congress will discuss a cooperative lesson they built where students examine the role of the bugle in the Civil War by observing photographs, listening to recordings and reading sheet music. Students code to create a multimedia display as the process of inquiry leads them to the development of a creative product. This activity is designed to be accessible to any classroom teacher, music or technology specialist, or informal educator--no music or coding experience necessary! Educators can collaborate to encourage students to connect knowledge across content areas and engage diverse learning modalities. This workshop is designed for educators of grades 3-6.
