About This Lesson

Over-the-Counter (OTC) Medicine Safety is a free, multimedia educational program designed to inform young people in grades 5-8 and their families about how to use, store, and dispose of OTC medicines safely and to encourage responsible behavior before young people start self-medicating. 

An introductory classroom kit for grades 5-6 and 7-8 introduces students to how to read and use the Drug Facts label. The kit includes a lesson plan, student activity sheet, a letter-size version of the program's classroom poster to distribute as a reference tool, and a family letter in English and Spanish.
