About This Lesson
In the 3 Little Pigs HyperDocs based on The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka, Illustrated by Lane Smith, I did not include a point of view instructional activity. I would spend time on this before I would read any of the stories. I would tie the Point of View to resolving conflicts with others. I kept the unit very broad so it would be easy to adjust as needed. I know my upper elementary students adore these kinds of activities and books. I have done this as a big kid buddy project with another classroom. My preschoolers adored it!!
This looked like a nice tie in. I know that I make sure that the centers have materials to explore the materials that they pigs used to build with. I try to tie in some art also. I have had the kids make stepping stones for Mom using the mortar that is used to build a brick house. We have made mini-straw houses. The 3d 3-pigs and Materials & Manufacturing - Science NetLinks seemed more geared towards the older groups. I only used one of the text based 3 pigs from the list of wonderful math idea tie with math. With older Kids, I would maybe add more graphics opportunities and place them in a journal..There are 2 great upper grade unit plans at the end of the resource for the 6-8 crowd. In addition a niffy writing guide for the older students.
Play!! Laugh!! Enjoy!!!
