About This Webinar
Join the American Federation of Teachers' Sumner McRae and Share My Lesson for a webinar on findings from the 2017 Educator Quality of Work Life survey.
In 2017, the AFT and the Badass Teachers Association ran the second iteration of the Educator Quality of Work Life (EQWL) survey. Following up on the inaugural 2015 survey, findings from the 2017 EQWL demonstrate that schools still struggle to provide educators and, by extension, students with healthy and productive environments. Districts that fail to recognize the importance of educator well-being may be faced with higher turnover, more teacher and staff health issues, and greater burnout, all of which research indicates leads to higher costs, less stability for kids and, ultimately, lower student achievement. Our 2017 survey also found that strong labor-management partnerships may be effective in mitigating teacher and school staff stress. During the webinar, we’ll go over the 2017 results in depth, as well as discuss the implications of our findings on collaboration and stress and next steps for further research.
