About This Lesson

A lesson utilizing two versions of Blake's "The Chimney Sweeper;" one from "Songs of Innocence;" the other from "Songs of Experience." After building background knowledge of 19th century England; chimney sweepers; and William Blake; students read and have a guided discussion of both versions of the poem. After discussion; students write a response comparing and contrasting the two poems.
