About This Webinar

Join NewseumED and Share My Lesson for a webinar on the 1st Amendment and women's suffrage.

How can you get students excited about the women’s suffrage movement? How did suffragist – and “anti’s” – use the First Amendment to make their voices heard? Join NewseumED to gain a unique frame on teaching this era, complete with activities, primary sources and interactives for honing students’ media literacy and research skills.

Speakers

Maggie Crawford is the Newseum’s director of education, responsible for outreach efforts and national partnerships to extend the NewseumED’s robust collection of digital and onsite educational resources to teachers across the country. Prior to coming to the Newseum, Crawford worked as a contract educator, creating and implementing family activities at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the International Spy Museum. Before that, she managed the early childhood exhibit at the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center in Mobile, Ala. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from Loyola University New Orleans and a master’s degree in museum education from The George Washington University.
