Corinne Z. Lyons is a Middle School ELA teacher at Sampson Webber Leadership Academy in Detroit Public Schools Community District. A graduate of the prestigious Cass Technical High School, Corinne attended Wayne State University receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies before earning a Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Education. She is certified in the state of Michigan to teach English Language Arts and Speech.
The aspiring administrator wrote her thesis on African American Vernacular in the English Language Arts classroom. She hopes to publish her thesis and continue her research within the next year.
She jokingly says Sunday’s are made for God, naps, innovative lesson planning, coffee, and music or binging watching Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, The Golden Girls, Grey’s Anatomy, This is Us and other Hulu and Netflix favorites.
Corinne is a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church. Corinne is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Eta Iota Omega Chapter in Inkster, MI - where she participates in the Ringing Pearls English Handbell Choir - and the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Incorporated..
