I have been a social studies and English Language Arts teacher in inner-city public high schools in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan for 12 years. My students are usually behind in their reading and writing levels, English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and/or disenfranchised youth from low income and minority backgrounds. Many of my lessons are geared towards engaging these students with relevant topics to their lives, role playing activities, film and video clips, and an attention to truth in history. Please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if you have any questions or comments, as I am always trying to learn and grow based on my interactions with other educators. Also, I'm writing a daily blog about my experience teaching Summer School English. Check it out at groovingup.weebly.com.
