About This Lesson
This handout accompanies a brilliant experiment that can be used to determine the speed of light to an incredible accuracy. Chocolate is placed in a microwave (the rotating plate removed). Cook the chocolate for 3-5min. testine for patches that are melted more. They turn out to be about 6cm apart. Applying the equation c = f x l enables students to work out the speed of light to approximately 1.5% accuracy. Students can then enjoy the chocolate!
I will get the 6th form to try this out, thanks
