About This Lesson

Just photocopy; cut out and laminate Phineus the Phonic monkey; punch out the hole in his bottom; and tie a piece of string to him for a tail. Whatever phonic sound is being taught; the children take their monkey around the indoor and outdoor areas and tie a knot in the tail every time they spot something that begins with that sound. At feedback time; the children have to try and remember the object that they saw for each knot in the tail - the one with the most knots (and correct sounds) wins!
