Students will compare the mood established in "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson and the reaping scene in The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. They will complete a graphic organizer for each text and then complete a short response utilizing this organizer. Necessary text excerpts are included. Aligned to Common Core State Standard: RL.8.2

These are great texts to look at mood. I like that your graphic organizer allows the students to determine one central mood. Thank you for including the needed text excerpts.

Great texts for determining central theme and mood/tone. Use of graphic organizer is helpful for students to get their thinking activated.
