About This Lesson

This lesson plan is structured to aid students in understanding the differences between living and non-living things, and what set of characteristics defines each. The lesson is supposed to be more student directed and focuses more on building students knowledge in this particular area through questioning their thought pattern. The teacher is supposed to have a passive role in this lesson and act more as a facilitator. At the end of this lesson students should be able to identify whether an object is living or non-living based on a guide the class will come up with as a whole.

This is a good introduction to living vs. non living. I like how it accesses the students schema about these terms. The setting of this lesson suggests a farm however this is something that can be done on the school playground or school grounds.
