About This Lesson

In these units, students will explore the textual components of speeches, how rhetorical devices are used to advance purpose. Students will focus on thematic elements and figurative language. Students will also explore literary texts, and compare contrast how the author develops the central idea over the stories. Students will also analyze character development. The students will gain better understanding of figurative language and how to make inferences supported by text evidence.
