Please join Taylor Davis, Lora DeSalvo, Aileen McQuillen of iCivics and Share My Lesson in a thought-provoking webinar. Hoping to integrate the presidential election or other civics-related topics into your classroom, but not sure how? Wanting to inspire your students to engage in critical civics-related thinking outside of their history or social studies classes? Presented by iCivics, this webinar will provide exciting, engaging, and practical tips for connecting civics-based video games to ELA writing exercises and skills.
Now Available On Demand. Original Air Date: March 26, 2020.
We’ll explore how to collaborate with a social studies/history teacher at your school or how to do it independently without a lot of preparation. First, participants will be introduced to iCivics and the free games and educational materials they provide. Then, after being introduced to the popular iCivics games, Win The White House and Cast Your Vote, participants will see how the game can serve as a launchpad for class discussions and/or writing activities. Participants will brainstorm different ways they could use the game and the different types of writing activities they could assign.
Available for one-hour of PD credit. A certificate of completion will be available for download at the end of your session that you can submit for your school's or district's approval.
