Preparing Students for Life After High School

About This Webinar

Join New York Times bestselling author, Julie Lythcott-Haims, Assistant Professor of Counseling at Southeastern Louisiana University, Wendy Rock, Digital and Operations Manager with NBC News, Jamie Fansworth, and Founder of Next Generation Finance, Tim Ranzetta, for a webinar on preparing your student and children for life after high school.

Join NBC News Education Nation / Parent Toolkit and Next Gen Personal Finance for a conversation of preparing your student and children for life after high school.

This session will highlight issues parents and students have when making the transition out of high school and tools for easing the process. During this transition, children really need to be prepared to become adults. That doesn’t happen overnight, but starts much earlier in childhood. Through conversation starters to simulations on banking, to how to prepare your student for college and career, to budgeting and banking, you will walk away with strategies to help your student prepare for the 21st century.

Using featured resources from NBC News’ Parent Toolkit's new Life After High School section, parents and teachers alike will learn new ideas to prepare students for college and career and help parents let go and navigate tough conversations.

Using Next Gen Personal Finance, you will learn new lessons on teaching financial aid, budgeting in college, and student loan repayments and you will receive access to the first of it's kind, online Banking Simulation, that they can use in their class!

Professional Credit

Available for one-hour of PD credit. A certificate of completion will be available for download at the end of your session that you can submit for your school's or district's approval.

Share My Lesson is now a New York State Education Department-approved provider for Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) requirements and an Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) approved Professional Development provider.
