Hi! Teaching is my second career and I started my first teaching job at 50 as a STEM Teacher for 2 PK-2 schools in the district I hired into. The 2019-2020 school year was not one I ever imagined would be my first year of teaching! As a STEM teacher, I used Story Books as the hook and then had my students work the problem in the books as their STEM challenges! It was so much fun!
As of June 4, I was laid off for the 2020/2021 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the funding issues many districts are facing for the upcoming school year. I pray nightly I will get called back as I was supposed to be at one school this coming year teaching PK-5 grade STEM. I am looking forward to STEM with the "bigger" elementary kiddos.
This summer I'm taking some STEM specific PD's that are being offered and any other ones (like the Hybrid) that I feel are relevant to the upcoming school year. I'm going to get a pacing guide/scope and sequence done for my STEM classes per grade level into Google Classroom. All my lessons I am planning on having digital, so will be prepared for next year when and if we are virtual. Hope we get to start in the classrooms!
