About This Webinar

As schools move to online learning, teachers are looking for strategies and best practices for student-centered online teaching and learning. Join AFT Director of Health Care, Kelly Trautner, AFT Director of Share My Lesson, Kelly Booz, Laura Tavares with Facing History and Ourselves and Barbara Treacy of Harvard Graduate School of Education for a webinar covering the preparation schools should be doing now as well as strategies for online learning.

Schools across the country are grappling with their response and emergency plan for the coronavirus. In addition to prevention, schools are ensuring that educators, students, and parents have the access they need to continue learning from home. Many schools and organizations have had virtual in-services or full telework practice days recently to train educators for online learning.

At the American Federation of Teachers, we have been working around the clock to provide guidance and support for schools and communities on best practices for prevention and preparation, as well as providing checklists on what schools should be doing remotely right now, and providing strategies for remote learning.

On Demand version is available in closed captioning in English and Spanish.

A good and informative webinar both before and after the pandemic's initial stage.

It was excellent, informative and was of great help in calming my nerves about distance learning. It was touching to hear the plight of teachers across America and our determination and passion to continue providing engaging lessons.

Informative. Helpful in a way that it spoke to teachers from throughout the country about some shared concerns and suggestions. The voice of the presenters is the voice of many of us who are trying to figure out the best way to teach and connect with our students in present circumstances. Perhaps the webinar would have been better had there been an option for some questions and answers. The resources by Facing History and Ourselves are helpful.
