PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs reaches thousands of teachers and students every year through its original youth journalism program, which connects young people to public media stations and mentors across the country. NewsHour Extra provides teachers with lesson plans and video activities to incorporate current events into tightly-packed schedules. In this webinar, teachers will learn how to access NewsHour's trusted content to initiate conversations with students about issues that impact them inside and outside of the classroom. Teachers will then be given tools, including project-based learning lesson plans and activities, that will help students build confidence, critical thinking skills and learn the value of differing perspectives. Attendees will leave knowing how to use the power of inquiry and storytelling to reinforce Common Core state standards, C3 Framework and Next Generation Science Standards.
