Now Available on Demand

This session will cover an innovative way to accelerate student learning, whether learning is taking place in-person or virtually. The secret? Parent engagement! Over the last decade, Springboard Collaborative has cracked the code on activating and equipping parents to teach at home. It’s a method called Family-Educator Learning Accelerators (or FELAs).

FELAs are 5-10-week cycles during which teachers and families team up and share a game plan to help kids reach learning goals. We have found that students average a three- to four-month reading gain during each cycle, closing the gap with grade-level performance by more than half.

Even with schools closed, families participating in learning accelerators have been averaging 26 minutes of daily reading at home. That’s an increase of four daily minutes from pre-COVID numbers, our literacy app shows. Despite all the challenges of the digital divide, families are rising to the occasion of teaching at home. Now, schools must rise to the occasion of helping parents sharpen their instructional skills.

Available for one-hour of PD credit. A certificate of completion will be available for download at the end of your session that you can submit for your school's or district's approval.

Share My Lesson is now an NYSED-approved provider for CTLE requirements.  Step 1: Upon completion of the Share My Lesson webinar, download your PD certificate of completion. Step 2: CompleteCTLE certificate. Step 3: Send both your CTLE certificate AND Share My Lesson PD certificate of completion to [email protected].

Great presentation and every teacher should be able to implement at least some of these ideas.

Excellent premise for involving parents on a more collaborative and enjoyable level without bringing in all the "legalese and shop talk". Love this and hope to see more schools/districts incorporate in their goals for raising student achievement.

Although I joined late because of an earlier meeting, I enjoyed the last 32 minutes of the workshop.
