Caribbean American Heritage Month Lessons
Caribbean American Heritage Month is observed each June to recognize the histories, cultures, experiences and contributions of Americans with roots in the Caribbean. Caribbean American communities reflect a wide range of nations, territories, languages and cultural traditions, and their stories are relevant throughout the year.
This curated collection offers free, high-quality lesson plans, activities, multimedia resources and teaching materials for educators from preschool through higher education. Resources from trusted contributors, including Re-Imagining Migration, TeachRock and PBS NewsHour Classroom, explore:
- Caribbean American history, leaders and contributions;
- Migration, identity and first-person experiences;
- Caribbean geography and connections to U.S. history;
- Music, visual art and literature;
- Culture and contemporary voices; and
- Age-appropriate activities for early learners.
