About This Lesson

The first part of this two week unit plan is covering the fundamentals of the components of fitness. The five components of fitness that will be taught through direct instruction using various methods like physical activities, exercises, writing, and discussions are cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. The first part of the ‘training week’ will eventually lead up to the ‘Fitness Fun Week’ which will have engaging opportunities that highlight the strengths and improvements conquered in the previous week involving conditioning. Each day centers a specific training exercise and related guided activity that will help the students in the next week where there will be more of a group dynamic and independent focal point. It is important to comprehend bodily awareness and other components related to physical health and movement especially for younger students to maintain longevity and healthy lifestyles. The components of fitness promote physical activity for regular activities that a student would face inside and outside of the school.
