About This Lesson

Use this lesson when teaching plastic pollution, human impacts on the environment, cause and effect, models,
transportation, or environmental problem solving.
Students will participate in an active game that models what can happen when nurdles are transported from one location to
another. Rice represents nurdles, and students attempt to move the rice between locations without spilling it.
After the game, students will observe the spilled rice, discuss why small materials can be difficult to contain and recover,
and propose ways spills could be prevented.
This lesson pairs especially well with What Are Nurdles? and Storm Drains & Pollution.
