About This Lesson

Students will conduct a multi-week investigation comparing shells placed in untreated seawater with shells placed in seawater containing additional dissolved carbon dioxide. Students will measure pH and shell mass over time and use their data to determine whether differences in seawater chemistry influence calcium-carbonate shell dissolution.
