I trained as a linguist, worked for a year in marketing and then as a French teacher in a comprehensive school. Later, I completed a PhD on french feminism. I spent a few years teaching French and Italian in the adult education service until I began working in the primary sector and eventually became assistant head in a small rural school where I taught a mixed age class of Y4/5/6 and had responsibility for English - and particularly phonics throughout the school. I designed and wrote a complete online phonics programme called Phrantic Phonics. Other resources, I have stored and shared on my website Reall Languages. I retired from teaching in 2015.
