About This Lesson

Students will analyze the August 2023 federal indictment in United States v. Donald J. Trump to evaluate whether there is sufficient evidence to show that Trump engaged in a conspiracy to use “deceit” and “fraud” to “impair, obstruct and defeat the lawful government function” of counting and certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election.  In doing so, they will also consider how Trump’s actions challenged the essential condition of a democracy that candidates will abide by the outcome of elections.
