About This Lesson
Distinguish between physical characteristics which are inherited and are not inherited. Students will identify inherited traits they have in common with a family member. They will understand that a trait is passed down from their parents and previous family members. Students will contribute to a group web giving examples of environmental traits they think are not inherited. Students will also identify hereditary and non-hereditary traits of plants and animals. Students will conduct a plant experiment to determine how the environment can change a plant's physical characteristics.
