Our young people can receive a brief idea of the rappers/M.C's, DJ's and more that gave us early hip hop when it was just a budding form of innovated music in the South Bronx and boroughs of NYC. Young scholars will enjoy the animation and can listen carefully so that they can be quizzed on it afterwards. Students can use the PDF as well to research the spoken word/hip hop lyrics to assist in answering the questions. This is a great opener for a discussion that can include music, ELA, history and more.
