This formative assessment should be given following lessons that review/ instruct students in the 4 ways of representing numbers: Standard Form, Word Form, Picture Form, Expanded Form.
Students will now be showing Expanded Form as the digit times the place value:
4 x 1 + 2 x 1/10 + 6 x 1/100 + 3 x 1/1000
Fifth graders are responsible for this representation to the thousandths' place.
