About This Lesson

Students will observe and evaluate the installation Four Purple Velvet Bathrobes to better understand the importance of Semmes’s artistic choices and inspiration. Students will then work in groups of four to write and perform a one-act play in which each student takes on the character of one of the robes. Aligned to Common Core State Standards: SL.K.1, SL.K.2, SL.K.3, SL.1.1, SL.1.2, SL.1.3, SL.2.1, SL.2.2, SL.2.3, SL.3.1, SL.3.2, SL.3.3
