About This Lesson
This lesson introduces students to the history of healthcare legislation in the United States leading up to the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) during the 111th Congress. The lesson will allow students to make connections to current debates over healthcare reform in the United States. A post-visit lesson will act as a debrief and reflection on the SIM experience.
While these lessons were originally designed in conjunction with the Edward M. Kennedy Institute's Senate Immersion Module, they can now be used independently in your classroom.
