About This Lesson

In the years after 9/11, many Americans reported dealing with increased levels of anxiety and fear. Use this lesson plan to explore the question: How did 9/11 affect Americans' sense of safety?

In this lesson, students will:

  • Reflect on the anxiety felt in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
  • Consider how the concept of safety has changed in the years since 9/11.
  • Formulate an answer to the essential question supported by evidence.

Lesson plans include interactive images, videos, and links, that are best viewed directly from our website using the link in the resources tab.

This resource appears in Module 6 of our 9/11 Primer.
