This is a constructivist lesson that will help students connect their previous knowledge about the area of rectangles with the area of right triangles. This lesson assumes that students are comfortable with the idea of area and can efficiently find the area of a rectangle. Lesson Objective: Students will be able to determine the area of a right triangle by enclosing the triangle ina rectangle and taking half of the area of that rectangle.
