The students will be able to identify the building blocks of an atom and their location in the atom structure. Also identify which atomic building blocks inform element identity, atom charge, and atom mass.They will calculate the charge on an ion. Finally using an element symbol, they will be able to determine the number of each building block in an atom of that element.
