About This Lesson
This course introduces students in grades 4–6 to essential computer skills, digital literacy, and the fundamentals of web design. Through step-by-step instruction and hands-on activities, students learn to use a keyboard, create and edit text, organize information, and develop responsible online habits.
The course covers typing letters, numbers, and punctuation; writing sentences; proper hand placement; using keyboard shortcuts; formatting documents; creating lists; and practicing internet safety. Students also receive an introduction to HTML and webpage creation, learning how to build a simple webpage using headings, paragraphs, and basic HTML tags.
By the end of the course, students will be able to create and format digital documents, use essential keyboard commands, organize information, follow basic internet safety rules, and develop a simple personal webpage. The course encourages accuracy, creativity, problem-solving, and confidence in using technology.
