About This Lesson
This unit plan is for Beginning Spanish 1, which is typically taught to middle school, (6th-8th grade). The unit includes the very beginning knowledge of Spanish as a foreign language. The lessons briefly touch on the concept of cultural awareness, geography, and history as it pertains to the Hispanic people group. The lessons consist of the following basic concepts: 1) alphabet, 2) numbers, 3) Hispanic culture, 4) colors, and 5) clothes. Students will learn basic vocabulary in Spanish and a consideration of the Hispanic population of the world. The lesson plans are written using the Alliant International University, CSOE lesson plan templates. The goal of these introductory lessons is to introduce the Spanish language to first-time Spanish language learners in a stress-free, enjoyable learning environment. Students will get excited about learning this foreign language and considering new perspectives.
