About This Lesson

The animation shows some gas in a cylinder being compressed by a piston. As the volume decreases the pressure in the cylinder increases.
All the molecules present in the gas are now compressed into a smaller volume. We assume that the temperature of the gas does not change during the compression.
The change of pressure of the gas is represented here by a darkening of the colour in the cylinder.
