Make designs for different needs; chair for a teacher; chair for student; chair for mass transport; chair for a king and chair for a super hero. Pick idea and make a paper model out of straws only. Share model with small group of 4-5. Group come up with a single design. Scrounge broken/old chairs from school or community. Children first protect chairs with paper and tape. They then build with card over the top of the chair. They focus on back; seat; arms and legs. After this; cover in paper mache. Finally paint; decorate and put on display!
