About This Lesson

Focus: In this unit, students investigate with sound and light to see how sound and light can be used to communicate with an audience in a theater. Students will determine the relationship between vibrations and sound. Students will explore different light sources, mirrors, and shadows. 

Number of Lessons: 4, each lesson is divided into 4-5 lesson segments.

Instruction Time: Nineteen lesson segments of 30-45 minutes each.

Standards

Plan and conduct investigations to provide evidence that vibrating materials can make sound and that sound can make materials vibrate.
Make observations to construct an evidence-based account that objects can be seen only when illuminated.
Plan and conduct an investigation to determine the effect of placing objects made with different materials in the path of a beam of light.
