New Progress 5/9/20: I have combined the Audio & text versions of Bud Not Buddy into one document with Hyperlinks. This will allow the best of both worlds.

This is another work in progress, but I wanted to get this out so other might use it during this trying time. This is an incredible book. I know it has some odd age ranges guidance from various school districts. It seems that many use it often in 4 & 5, but the Engage NY and the  International Literacy Association guidance is 6-8 grade. I think that this range in a book is great as it helps to put books in kids hands. The older age allows for more depth.

I think that it is so important to share the historical and cultural allusion that Bud makes through out the book. It is important especially during this time of increased hate directed at those that are or have been marginalized by our country. Please do not under estimate this age group's ability to grasp and find their voice. If you take the time with them they in turn will grow and further clarify this strong upstanding voice that will help us build the better world we envision in our dreams.

This Unit has the pdf of the text divided into marked chapters that follow the audio book. The audio version is beautifully read by Mrs. Leonardo. Ms. Leonardo is an incredible educator. She helps the listen focus to the unique demands of auditory processing of the text. She sets the clarify questions, which I have type into the audio guide. In addition, I have included a Reader's Theater script. I am still working on the NovelHyperdocs for this text. I will upload it as quickly as I can..
