About This Lesson
Introduction:
This Unit Plan focuses on the Concept of Congruence. Students will be introduced to these topics for the first time after working with exponents and scientific notation. The intended timeline for this lesson is about two weeks, with each lesson geared towards a 47- minute class period. Each lesson contains a warm-up exercise, and a closing exercise. The unit will cover rigid motions and how they relate to the concept of congruence. The majority of the lessons were adopted and adapted from the Engage New York curriculum. Students are provided with a student work book that contains all lessons for the unit. In order to make this more accessible to students, I have added supplemental assignments and labs that foster student collaboration and engagement. In each lesson plan, I have included a resources tab that includes links to video hooks, sites that aid in checking for understanding and links to supplemental sites such as Khan Academy. I created the translation lab from scratch with the Common Core standards in mind, with the visual aid of Khan Academy.
