Use opening of Pirates of the Caribbean to improve descriptive writing using five senses. Starter: spot the senses in the descriptive piece1 Play the DVD of opening sequence make notes on storyboard (print out PP in handouts) 2 Write in first person; showing changes in atmosphere. (I used title: 'A Sea Change') 3 Can make a good display. (You could also do a starter listening to the sea and writing or create a sea sound scape with students being the sea; rain; gulls etc)

I don't understand how the Handout: Description of the attic relates to the other parts of this lesson about the sea and changes in the atmosphere on a pirate ship. I'd like to see the worksheets and prompts referred to in the Lesson Plan as well as a scoring guide for the student performance task.

Thank you!
This is relevant to the kids and could be made in to a really fun lesson where they can get really stuck in to writing with the senses. Thanks for sharing!
