About This Lesson

After a death occurs, different cultures follow a range of traditions, rituals, and practices that are informed by different cultural beliefs, norms, and expectations, which together help guide the bereaved individual’s behaviors. However, whatever a family’s cultural traditions and practices, a general sensitivity to the unique needs of children and families should be the driving consideration for support. Review this module to consider the role of cultural considerations as it applies to supporting children and families in the aftermath of a death.
