About This Lesson

Join Close Up,  the Deliberative Democracy Lab (DDL) at Stanford University, and Generation Lab, as we bring together middle school students nationwide for a FREE deliberation on December 6 from 1-3pm (EST). During the deliberation, students will discuss 8-10 policy proposals focused on issues impacting the social media landscape.

In a national landscape often defined by political divisiveness, the skills and practices of civil discourse and deliberative dialogue are more essential than ever. Deliberation is key to understanding public policy issues from multiple perspectives, to making informeddecisions about how to resolve those issues and to act cooperatively in the best interests of communities nationwide.
