About This Lesson

In this video, I talk about the first phase of the action potential - Depolarization. In order for the action potential to take place, the stimulus needs to be strong enough to bring the membrane potential at the axon Hillock to threshold.

Once the membrane potential reaches threshold, it causes voltage-gated sodium channels to open. Sodium ions rush in causing depolarization. Visit my website for more quality Biology Videos.
