About This Lesson

The PowerPoint 'Dog breeding' can be shown which goes through why all dogs look different; and why selective breeding is carried out.The 'selective breeding of dogs cards' file contains an activity that can be used after showing the PowerPoint. The cards need to be cut out and laminated; and one given to each student. The students then follow the instructions and complete the questions on the worksheet on slide 6.

Great resource

Great way to teach about selective breeding

Excellent! Great activity! I adapted it to be a paper based small group activity. Kept my students very engaged. Just a suggestion: try doing it backwards as well, have the students breed two specific dogs together and tell you what the characteristics of the offspring might be and what they can be used for.
